What is civic courage? What kind of experiences do I make as a young adult in everyday life (positive as well as negative)? Which opportunities for action exist in situations of conflict and violence? What are motivation factors and what are the obstacles for courageous behavior? Which good practices carried out by civil society actors are present in the Western Balkans? And where do the boundaries lie in courageous behavior?
All these questions and many more will be discussed and compiled through multidisciplinary activities at the youth event “There Is Always A Choice” in Tuzla together with the participants originating from the Western Balkans and Germany and activists from civil society organizations. The confrontation with these questions will take place from two different perspectives: from the everyday perspectives of the young people and engaged civil society actors as well as from the historian perspective. This is done in order to promote and convey peaceful and creative methods of remembrance work and constructive conflict transformation in post-conflict areas.
“Civic courage in times of war and peace” is a four-day youth event, which will take place under the motto “There is always a choice” from the 26th until the 29th of August 2015 in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina
